Dr. Jocelyn Foran, MD, FRCPC, DABOM, MHP, is a Canadian physician, anesthesiologist, Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and Metabolic Health Practitioner whose work bridges conventional medicine with a growing focus on metabolic health and nutrition. A graduate of Dalhousie University’s medical school, she has practiced anesthesiology for more than two decades while also navigating her own long history with ulcerative colitis. After years of managing the condition medically, Dr. Foran began exploring dietary interventions, progressing from a specific-carbohydrate approach to paleo, low-carb, ketogenic, and ultimately carnivore nutrition. She reports that her colitis is now in remission and that she no longer requires the medications she once used for the condition. That experience profoundly changed the way she thinks about chronic illness and led her to establish Upstream Metabolic Medical, where she helps patients explore metabolic health through nutrition and lifestyle change. Dr. Foran brings the unusual perspective of a physician who has also been the patient, combining clinical experience, scientific curiosity, and a willingness to question long-held assumptions about food and health.
